The winner of the 2023 Sobey Art Award, Canada's prestigious art prize, is Kablusiak, an Inuvialuk multidisciplinary artist.

This is the third consecutive year that a shortlisted artist from the Prairies and North region has won the award.

Four other artists were finalists and each received C$25,000 ($18,000), with their work on display at the National Gallery of Canada until March 2024. [ more ]

The winner of the Sobey Art Award in Canada receives a cash prize of C$100,000.

The 2023 winner is the Inuvialuk multidisciplinary artist Kablusiak, who was born in Yellowknife and raised in Edmonton.

This marks the third consecutive year that the top honours have gone to a shortlisted artist from the Prairies and North region. [ more ]
